About HERU - Yoga For Sight Loss
About HERU - Yoga For Sight Loss
HERU Yoga for Sight Loss was founded by Hanna Wroblewski in 2021 to make yoga accessible to people with visual impairments.
It started during the pandemic as a response to the lack of accessible online yoga resources for the visually impaired community.
HERU Yoga for Sight Loss’ offerings include a podcast with over 40 sequences to practice at home, a monthly free Zoom workshop, weekly online classes via Zoom and since 2026, yoga holidays in collaboration with Seable.
About The Founder - Hanna Wroblewski
Hanna is a dance and yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience working in inclusive settings. Inspired by her father, who was diagnosed with a rare eye condition several years ago, she founded HERU Yoga for Sight Loss in 2021.
She has a BA in Dance Teaching, a MFA in choreography, and a 300-hour yoga certification. The knowledge she has gained through her education and her decades-long teaching experience has given her the foundation to design these sessions for people with visual impairments.
She was awarded a Points Of Light Award from the UK Government for her outstanding contribution to society.
As of 2023, she is the lead teacher at Rambert for the first UK contemporary dance classes for sight loss.
Testimonials
"I have benefited so much from joining the sessions, which I have been involved with from the start. I am totally blind and live alone. I find the yoga movements has got me in tune with my body, even if I don’t always get it perfect!
The time we spend at the end of the class to be thankful for the love of our family and friends makes me quite emotional but I always come away from the sessions with a spring in my step and a great big smile on my face."

"What I enjoyed about your yoga class, it’s very informal; your instruction technique is very good. You treat everyone with kindness & respect. Your question & answer at the end of the session is very helpful."

"I enjoy doing the yoga. I’ve been doing it for many years, but you always pay great attention to alternative practice for those who might not be able to do all the positions. You always take the time and patience, and you listen carefully to what we are all saying. The whole group interaction is brilliant, even our furry friends joining, and I would like to say that having practised with you for a while and you’re always kind and understanding, and thank you and I love it when you send the link reminders. Otherwise, they’d get lost in our inbox."

"I really enjoy yoga but find it almost impossible to follow a yoga teacher in a sighted class. Therefore, the Heru Yoga for Sight Loss classes are perfect as they offer verbal instruction and guidance. Hanna gives clear descriptions of the various moves and poses and is able to teach a class that accommodates everyone, regardless of experience or sight loss condition. Living with sight loss results in a lot of body tension, and these classes are the perfect way to relax."

"As a beginner to yoga, I highly recommend Hanna. The sessions are relaxed, she is skilled at describing the poses, giving alternatives and adaptations where necessary. Hanna is always encouraging, and her classes have a positive impact on my health and well-being."

"Hanna’s guided yoga practice is inclusive and restorative. Hanna teaches us the art of peace and calm, taking away the pressures of the day, living with sight loss.
Personally, over almost four years, my core strength, my balance, and breathing has improved. I have used the breathing techniques in my everyday life when I am anxious or stressed, and they work for me.
I feel so privileged to have Hanna teaching me; her kindness, sharing of knowledge and empathy shine bright. She gives us a safe space, and we are all equal with no barriers to practice with our sight loss.
I highly recommend Hanna and I thank her from the bottom of my heart as she has made a difference to those of us living with sight loss.

I have been a regular attendee at Hanna’s online yoga classes, and I can thoroughly recommend them for anyone who has sight loss. Hanna is very welcoming and teaches in a very inclusive style with plenty of audio description, and although on Zoom, she makes sure that she can see everyone and offers corrections if needed. She is a very caring and empathic person."

"When a blind friend of mine gave me details of Hanna’s Zoom yoga classes, I was quick to respond and get involved. As Hanna teaches blind and visually impaired people, she is aware of how to describe the postures beautifully and certainly thinks about how to describe the positions. I have attended her regular Thursday evening classes for over a year now and thoroughly enjoy them. Hanna also offers a free session once a month, again of which I attend when I can. These sessions concentrate on certain postures so we can get to know how we should really be ‘holding’ ourselves, which, of course, is very important. Hanna always takes the time to explain to individuals if they don’t seem to be understanding fully what she is explaining, which is again brilliant. I have been learning yoga for many years but with Hanna’s classes, I feel somehow more involved and enjoy the variety of postures she describes for us to do. Since Hanna now runs a beginners' class, I have been able to ‘rope’ my partner into doing some yoga."

"I have regularly attended HERU yoga for Sight loss with Hanna. She is a phenomenally kind, compassionate, and considerate teacher.
She is extremely skilled in working with people with Sight loss. When describing yoga poses, Hanna uses Descriptive and succinct instructions. Hanna's vast wealth of knowledge and experience of yoga means she’s able to impart her knowledge of how the body works and how I can best undertake a pose. I love Hanna's sessions. I always feel seen, and my yoga technique is improving each time. Each session focuses on different themes, such as balance and strength. These are two examples. There are many, many more.
In short, Hanna is an excellent yoga teacher, and I’m so blessed to be in her class, and I hope to be there for however many years.
Hanna, you truly are a sister on earth. Really appreciate your time, your thoughtfulness, and your knowledge."

"I enjoy learning yoga as a member of the Heru community. It is great to have a yoga teacher with an understanding of visual impairment. I can safely participate in yoga from the comfort of my home and develop my yoga practice by listening to Hanna's clear vocal instruction. This has enabled me to feel confident in my ability to practice yoga, which is supporting my healing from a significant illness."

"I am blind and attend Hanna's yoga classes, which are specially designed for people with visual impairments. She delivers the sessions via Zoom and makes the whole process extremely accessible by providing a simple link. Once connected, she helps orientate my phone so she can see me clearly and support me with correct positioning and movement patterns throughout the class.
Each session is run in a very professional and welcoming way. At the beginning, Hanna introduces everyone who has joined, all of whom are visually impaired, and checks in to see how we’re feeling. She asks about any injuries, concerns, or worries and adapts the class where needed so everyone feels safe and included.
Hanna gives clear verbal instructions, offers individual guidance when required, and provides plenty of encouragement and praise. The quality of teaching, personal attention, and care she provides makes the classes excellent value.
Beyond the classes themselves, Hanna is incredibly kind and emotionally supportive. When my guide dog passed away, she reached out privately with a lovely message of support, which meant a great deal to me.
I would highly recommend Hanna to anyone with a visual impairment who is looking for a knowledgeable, adaptable, and genuinely compassionate yoga instructor."
